This post is on behalf of iiZESBiE one of our forums Administrators that has been looking into a problem we have been having here on RLSLOG, please read below for more details.
Many of you have reported, and undoubtedly others have noticed a problem with rapidshare.com links containing an exe file.
Some of the recent rapidshare links posted on releselog by our readers contain an executable fine (.exe) file, this seems to be a problem with rapidshare.com when the original torrent files are uploaded inside rar archives.
This is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT and is only a slight inconvenience, as the exe file is just a self extracting file.
To open these files (not suggested double clicking on file):
WINDOWS: right click the exe file and select “Extract here” , “Extract files… ” or “Extract to *directory name*” or drop into winrar.
MAC OS X: download and install The Unarchiver: http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html and enable ‘windows self extracting file’, and any others archives you wish to open with unarchiver, then double click the file.
LINUX: hopefully you’re savvy with the command line, with rar installed run “rar e /path/to/file.exe”.

iiZESBiE is currently looking into what causes this, his current theory is that the ’store’ archive function may be the problem but he needs some information from our readers and especially uploaders! if you have downloaded or uploaded any rar archives (seems to be multiple part downloads) that when extracted create an exe file then please post the links here and if you are the uploader please post information on how you archived these files (compression settings etc).
